My summer writing will be shared here! I hope to see your walls filled soon as well!
From Fever 1793
  • "A few blocks south lay the Walnut Street Prison where Blanchard had flown that remarkable balloon. From the prison's courtyard it rose, a yellow silk bubble escaping the earth. I vowed to do that one day, slip free of the ropes that held me." (pages 4-5)
    • How do you escape the stresses of everyday life?
      • Mrs. Carvajal escapes into the books she loves so much or flies off to the land of the mouse! The first glimpse of the castle at the end of Main Street, USA (Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World for all the non-Disney fanatics out there!), all stress and worries are instantaneously lifted from my shoulders. My family and friends have often remarked how they can visibly see the difference in me as a person once I have arrived through the gates and captured my first glimpse of that magical beauty - even after 100+ trips!
      • You heard me say from March on that the only good thing about my stay in the hospital was that I got to read 15 books that week and you know I don't watch television. Books are my escape, ever since I was a little girl. Reading Charlotte's Web in first grade and hearing my mom read a series of Betsy books to me even younger than that made me want to know more, visit new places, and experience as much as possible. Books provide that for me when it is not physically possible. Even now, the lifeguards at Typhoon Lagoon's lazy river (in WDW) still tease me - they automatically know I'm a teacher because I lay in my tube for at least an hour reading my book as I go all around the park completing tuning out all the activity going on around me. I'm lost in my story.
